When i step foot in South Korea in December 2005, i was told by the local people that the government strongly promote enviroment friendly living.. Things i have learned, just that i didnt share.. But yet i believe, even if i do, will anyone take it seriously? For often when we're not affected directly, we tend to overlook or doesnt really put it to heart..
South Korea enforce payment of plastic bags many years bag, even at tourist attraction areas.. One would argue, tourist wont know a thing, are they just trying to earn more money? For a mere 100 won, roughly about 15 cents a bag, how much can they rip off you? Why cant we think it's an effort from them to instill and educate, even the foreigners? In short, you learn something..
Of course things could go either way and definitely some would choose to make negative comments, like in Singapore now.. NTUC and IKEA have started.. Many would follow suit i think..
Is is helping the environment not commendable? Yes? So why are there still people complaining?
And last but not least, the News interviewed many who chose to opt out paying for the plastic bags.. Why? They want to save the environment? Nope, i beg to differ.. I think they want to save those cents..
Geez, suddenly plastic bags became so important..
P.S: For your info, with the approaching GST hike.. The focus will switch real to it in no time.. However do you know some countries' GST(Goods and Service Tax) or VAT(Value Added Tax) is as high as 25% of the product? For a start South Korea is at 10%..
Click the link below if you want prove.. Anyway, superficial beings i thought..

That's all.. Many other cultures i learnt are non interesting due to irrelavance.. For now..
