Have you ever been mistaken? *Bu neng shou de mimi*

Yesterday after work, as I was walking to the MRT station for class, I saw a familiar face...

After seconds of recollection, I remembered her being my secondary school mate, a few years my junior.

Let's just call her "Jun". So I smiled at her, but she in return turned away, not acknowledging my existence on purpose.

What did I do to deserve this? We used to chat and stuff back in secondary school days...

Then "it" struck me, an event actually. Two of my close friends, together with me went to Katong to play then famous "Counter Strike". Within minutes of settling down on the seats, one of my friends asked for a change of seat. Unsuspicious me agreed with much fuss.

Almost immediately I was confronted by some fellow secondary school mates then i recgonise, askin me if I saw a phone. With me insisiting I barely sat down, I didnt see anything, they questioned me for quite some time. When they finally relented and buying my story, I went on with my LAN gaming unconcerned over the whole incident.

So, within a week my eldest brother gave me his Nokia 8210 to use. That phone, spelt trouble. Apparently Jun, sat at that seat which I swopped earlier, and left her phone there. Yes, same model as the one I was using.

I was finger pointed, cursed and degraded upon.

I dared the accusers to take my phone and match the IMEI number of Jun's. No one did initially, but eventually when they did, they accuse me of swapping the phone with someone already, given the time lapse.

Only then, the one who went with me for that faithful LAN gaming session and swopped seat with me confessed, that he saw and took the phone and kept mum.

A buddy I would call back then made me took the rap. Countless promises to divulge the truth was made to me by him. I merely asked him to confess to Jun secretly and not to blow up the whole thing, and that Jun can dont tell anyone and let the misconception going as I was determined not to lose Jun as a friend.

Time and again I waited, in vain.

I seriously forgot the whole incident till that disgusted look she gave me. Also, it made me realise to uphold a friendship and the namesake of a good friend of mine , I lost many others who stood by Jun and of course bought the story.

That incident is a good eight to nine years back, however up till today I'm still bearing the misdeed.

Today I say thank you, for I treasured you and you took me for a ride. Here I am, letting out our *bu neng shou de mimi* (Secret not to be told)...
