She walked pass with her group of friends, flashed a smile where she tilted her face forward again, he stood there for seconds, rooted to the ground. Losing all senses, he knew he was smitten by that faithful smile at that very moment already. After his set-up of the bars were done, he was entering the lift where yet she stood within his visuality. He coolly stepped in hoping time to freeze, but were greeted by the friends of the lady whom at that moment he thought Cupid paired him with.
Soon after he felt his face burning, for being the center of attention in front of that lady who seemingly stole something from him. What is it? It could only be his heart. Upon learning on the same first day he have met her, that it was her first day at work there, it gave him a belief in the existance of 'Fate'. Further checks with his friends, whom are all the fine ladies in that clique except her, gave him some leads and he's rather determined to move a step closer to pursue her.
The next time he saw her was a good three days later, it was only when the event he's handling was starting that he realised she's working at that function room too. He neglected his should-be priorities and stayed close, admiring her beauty.
Time slipped by seconds by seconds, mintues by mintues, and it was nearing the going home time. After much persuasion and words of encouragement by his fellow colleagues, he finally made the move.
She's 17, sweet, demure and fair. To him, she seems to be his Cinderella, his everything. He's a young chap with the ever-happy go lucky attitude, and they fell in love swiftly and very, very deeply. They saw each other almost everyday, almost inseperatable.
Once, she being from an all girls' school all along, lied to her mum that she's taking a stroll alone back home. What awaits is something he's still guilty about, for it's abusive and unforgettable. As they were walking hand in hand towards her home, they decided to part way once they reached the end of the tunnel. All he remembered was turning to bid goodbye, he was smiling and thought all was well..
''Whose that guy you're with!? You lied to me you're alone!? Just who is that guy over there!? You're doomed when you're home! You're seriously in trouble when you get home lady!'' The loud voice echoed through the underground tunnel. He was walking away, in guilt and with stares from the people whose witnessing all this. All he did was, walked, not even a glance back to her.
She replyed thru sms, ''If you have turned, things would have been worse. It's alright my Darling, even though my mum came out with some vulgarities when we got home but i'm fine. Don't worry and have a good rest ok? I'll see you tommorrow. *Muack*'' Now how sweet and understanding is that reply hey?
They never been to a movie once during their courtship. Not once, but thrice he asked her and she repeated the same thing, ''Movie? I rather not, why pay as much to go in and we don't get to interact and let the film do the talking? I rather you sit me down and we spend quality time together chatting or even, enjoy some nice food once in a while.'' Where can you expect this 'girl-next-door' cum 'down-to-earth' girl reply? He thought he struck gold and all's for him to keep, but it seems otherwise.
They were enjoying themselves at the BBQ when the topic came out, ''Whether should i just simply marry a rich guy and do nothing at all''. She and her good friend were discussing when the former loudly made her point, ''I would really love to shop all day without worrying about money!'' He tried to express his discontent but was greeted by a rather unkind remark, namely, ''You don't know me at all, so don't say i will;will not or i am;am not this type of person!'' Before that, he actually asked her a question on the very same day, that did she mind his worsening looks(at that point of time he had skin irritation on his face, both sides with reddish dry broken skin, and when he himself looks in the mirror he would be digusted at the sight), she replied sharply with, ''Not all all, i love you, your heart, not your looks''. He's willing to go deaf even if those were the last words he heard!
He could somewhat sense things are changing, but he prayed things will revert back at this very point of time.
Five months into the relationships and they have quarrelled on none occassions, who can promise that? Till then for that good five months, it seemed at least a year, to him at least. Follow which, as he was walking her home, as he did EVERYTIME they went out, he recieved a buzz from a mutual of friend of theirs. They were just 1km, roughly about a 3mins walk away from her home when another call came. He then said, ''They kept calling me to bring them to the recreation centre, would you mind if i leave you here to go back on your own?'' She was as per normal with an agreeable tone and expression, ''Go on Darling, don't worry i'll be fine and i'll drop you a message once i reached home.''
He ran off in the opposite direction after kissing his sweetheart goodbye, thinking of impressing both him and her friends how accomadating he was. Hours passed without a message, he was back home lying in bed staring into the ceiling. And what's the wrost thing that can happen to Casanova? I would bet my last penny of it being waiting for no replies; waiting for a call or message that never came. He set his mind into surprising her at her place and see her to work, so, with a somewhat heavy heart walked to the Bus Interchange hoping to catch the first bus to her home. After a somewhat 40minutes walk. it's 3.30am and he's sitting in the deserted Bus Interchange, where a sms came through.
It read.. ''This is our 5th month and **days together, we really don't know each other well. We had been quarrelling and i think it's best that we part. Etcetera, Etcetera.. With the sudden drizzle, he hailed a cab after some distance off the interchange. She wasn't picking up the phone nor replying his sms, he risked with something. Finally, she picked up the phone, she was sniffing and he could sensed she was crying. ''Guess where i am now,'' he said. ''Where?'' The latter replied. ''Dear, please walk to your kitchen window and look down.'' Follow which it's plain staring and silence over the cellphones on the 4am odd, rain washed setting. He reminded her that it's only their 1st quarrel. Things.. Just turned for the better? Stay tuned..
I have to end the story here, i can't reveal more now, i can't think, and this bad memory is coming back. And yes, the 'he' is me, Peter Tan. The 'she' is my ever First Love in my life, the one who taught me to become realistic and stuff. Maybe this is a stepping stone for my full story, maybe, for there are alot more touching things that happen between us. She's the one who made me mad, for 2 months after we broke off, i guessed i was really madly in love. I stayed home all day, became restless, can't sleep, can't sit still, wouldn't eat, etc. She taught me hardship in the cruelest kind of way on top of the personality of a person can change almost overnight, hence i hereby thank you. I remembered i often to say to her back then.. ''I love you the most at this point of life, for i can't promise i will for eternity.'' Say about being realistic huh!
Tots of the day: No point trying always to please everyone, sometimes you seems like nothing but a fool.
No matter how well liked or loved, there bound to be opposers. Tiredness is all that one gets, for trying to be the mean of everyone, everything. Forgo this urge, for at times one feels obligated. Be back to oneself, let time be the antidote.
